Dating back to the 1600’s, Pawleys Island
was home to majestic rice and indigo plantations. After these crops lost prominence
as one of the more important economic factors to the South, the world’s elite turned
the lush lands into their private playground. Although some of the original
structures have been lost, aggressive efforts and strict regulations have restored
the community to a charming village with distinctive 19th century characteristics.
What was once an economic stronghold, is now home to the most highly ranked golf
courses in the South.
The Pawley’s Island community is located on the south end of the Myrtle Beach area's "Grand Strand". It’s
just a short drive to all of the excitement and numerous attractions that can be found in Myrtle Beach, but remains an oceanfront, island retreat from the noise and activity often associated with Myrtle Beach vacations.
